This 1.5 x 3-inch biocide-free cellulose sponge is mounted at one stick’s end and supplied with a sample bag. Cellulose is an ideal sampling material for detecting the presence of foodborne pathogens and meets the specifications for sample collection outlined in the Rules and Regulations of the Federal Register (Vol. 61, No. 144, 1996). The Neogen® Sponge-Stick allows users to collect samples without touching the bag’s inside, helping to maintain sample integrity. The stick also enables access to hard-to-reach areas. It facilitates sample collection without direct contact with the sponge, making it suitable for drains, pipes, and equipment sampling. The sponge snaps off the handle for easy handling and transport, and a thumb-stop helps prevent contact with the sponge.

The sponge is durable, biocide-free, and does not affect organism viability. As a dry sponge, it meets requirements for use in dry-only environments. Alternatively, it can be used with various in-house or pre-mixed buffers and sampling solutions to meet specific testing requirements during sampling. The highly absorbent cellulose material effectively retains and releases the sample without excessive dripping. The Sponge-Stick also comes with a Neogen® Printed Sample Bag to contain the sponge after collection, ensuring safe and convenient transport to the laboratory. The bag includes a writable surface for recording sample details and enabling quick, easy identification. All components are decontaminated via gamma irradiation to maintain aseptic conditions. This product is manufactured in the USA using globally sourced materials.
