Sample collection is straightforward with the Neogen® Swab-Sampler. The vial provides ample headspace for sample addition and vortexing to release organisms from the swab. This sampling device is also decontaminated via gamma irradiation to ensure a long shelf life. The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) methodology is the world’s most widely recognised food safety management protocol.
Sample collection products from Neogen® are an essential component of this approach, used to identify potential foodborne hazards and determine their location. Portability, stable enrichment media, and easy-to-handle swabs and sponges are designed to address various potential risks and deliver exceptionally accurate results. They are engineered to collect, safely contain, and transport contents from the sampling site to the laboratory without leaking or compromising the sample’s integrity.
Buffered Peptone Water Broth is used as a diluent or for the non-selective enrichment of microorganisms such as Salmonella species or E. coli from food and environmental samples before selective enrichment and isolation. Microorganisms present in a food product may be sub-lethally injured by food processing techniques and therefore may not be recovered using direct selective methods. Buffered Peptone Water Broth supports the recovery of those microorganisms that may have been compromised.
