This workshop will reflect on the critical importance of oxygen in the context of cancer progression and treatment strategies with a special emphasis on particle therapy and the rapidly evolving field of FLASH radiotherapy where tumours are irradiated at ultra-high dose rates. This workshop will be a great networking opportunity to connect with other researchers to learn how to mimic hypoxic tumour microenvironment conditions in cell culture laboratories and how these parameters affect in vitro radiobiology research. In addition, there will be a guided tour of the facilities at GSI and FAIR, one of the world-leading institutes for biophysics research with heavy ions for particle therapy and space applications.
