QuantaSep is a computer controlled chromatography system, which allows manual and automated runs. The software is easy to use and is used in all QuantaSep models. The two pumps (checkvalve free positive displacement pumps) are fed by 6 inlets each. Isocratic, linear and stepgradients can be performed. The runs can be done manually just by clicking on the flow scheme on the monitor or writing a method filling out a spread sheet assisted by pull down menues. Up to three column can be connected to the systems, which can be run forward and in reverse direction. A column bypass is available to rinse the system. The system is equipped with pressure, temperature, UV (280 +254 nm), pH and conductivity sensors. A unique bubble sensor protects the column – no bubble trap is needed.

The collection of fractions can be done based on time, volume or sensor signals. There are 10 fraction collector outlets available. An external fraction collector can be connected to one of the outlets. The system logs all events, alarms and activities. The software is 21CFR chapter 11 compliant and generates cGMP reports. This description is correct for QuantaSep 100 (0-100 ml/min), QuantaSep 1000 (up to 1000 ml/min) and QuantaSep 1800 (up to 1800 ml/min).
